Malaysia win big at Asian Golf Awards Show

Malaysian clubs and personnel win several awards at prestigious show in Hua Hin, Thailand

Malaysian golf courses emerged as big winners in the recent Asia Pacific Golf Summit and Gala Awards (APGS) 2016 which was stage at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Hua Hin, Thailand from October 29-30.

Kota Permai Golf and Country Club and Horizon Hills Golf and Country Club surfaced as the first and second runners-up in the Best Golf Course in Malaysia category. Both golf courses were also hailed as the Top 10 Best Maintained Golf Courses in Asia Pacific.

Kong Ai Lin, Kota Permai’s marketing communications manager received outstanding recognition when she bagged the award for Best Marcom Manager in Asia Pacific.

TPC Kuala Lumpur garnered nine awards from the glitzy Asian Golf Awards 2016 Gala Night. These include the coveted Asia Pacific Pinnacle Award of Excellence, Best Course in Malaysia, Golf Course Superintendent of the Year – Mohd Nizam bin Othman, First Runner Up for Best Clubhouse in Asia Pacific, Best ProShop in Asia Pacific, Best Marcomm Manager of the Year Malaysia – Loh Chyi Jen and Best HR Manager of the Year – Azhan Abdul Kadir, and Second Runner Up for Best Managed Golf Club in Asia Pacific and Best Locker Room in Asia Pacific.

Mohd Amir Ibrahim from the Els Club, Teluk Datai also received recognition in the Best HR Manager of the Year category.

Horizon Hills’ Mohd Yusri bin Mat Isa won an award in the Best Golf Course Manager of the Year category.

“The recognition awarded to both Kota Permai and Horizon Hills is very befitting for the top golf facilities in Malaysia. There is no question in my mind that both clubs’ management level is the top in the region,” said Ng Eu Shen, President, Malaysian Golf Tourism Association (MGTA).

“We are also pleased to hear about the successes of TPC Kuala Lumpur and the Els Club in Teluk Datai. These developments are indicative of the excellence and professionalism within respective golf courses in Malaysia with regards to maintaining the highest standards of service and performance in the industry,” he added.
