Saujana goes private
Hotel guests at The Saujana Hotel will be allowed to play
The Saujana Golf and Country Club has become a private member’s club and will not accept walk-in players anymore. But there’s still a way for golfers especially those from overseas to play at the two illustrious courses, the Palm and the Bunga Raya.
All hotel guests billeted at The Saujana Hotel will be allowed to use the courses. Upon checking in they can book their tee times via the hotel.
Recently the refurbished Palm course, nicknamed “The Cobra” for its biting challenge was opened for play. The par-72 7,186-yard layout is coated with the hybrid Tifeagle grasses. Much of the original layout of American designer Ronald Fream was retained.
The Bunga Raya course on the otherhand was a total redesign by Ted Parslow due to increasing greens creep and drainage issues. The par-72 7,034-yard layout is coated with hybrid miniverde grasses.
The Bunga Raya course is now playing to green speeds averaging above 9 on the stimpmeter. The Palm greens are being gradually conditioned for faster ball speeds.
The Palm course which has been the venue of nine Malaysian Opens is being groomed to return to its glory days. It last hosted the national Open in 2009.
