Large shopping malls offer everything under the sun in cool comfort
After a morning round of golf, visiting golfers coming to Kuala Lumpur can actually spend the rest of the day in air-conditioned comfort.
That is made possible by recuperating with some retail therapy by spending time at any of the eight major shopping malls in KL itself or venturing out to another 12 found in the Greater KL area.
There are three malls that rank among KL’s best and feature a wide variety of retail offerings, including fast food chains, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacies, boutiques, curio shops, gyms and cinemas, to name a few.
Mid Valley Megamall is located close to the Bangsar area and is one of South-East Asia’s largest malls. It remains as one of the most patronised of all malls in KL mainly to its ultra-modern, functional design with wide walkways, escalators and lifts which allow patrons to move around with ease.
Pavilion Kuala Lumpur lies in the heart of the throbbing Bukit Bintang district where there are malls, hotels, old shophouses and hawker stalls mingling together offering an amazing assortment of goods.
Opened in 2007 the mall operates more 1.3 million square feet of retail space with a wide range of shops parading anything from designer items, jewellery, timepieces to made-to- order suits and gowns.
Suria KLCC lies at the base of Malaysia’s iconic 88-storey Petronas Twin Towers and is a hugely popular place to meet, dine for many patrons, local and from abroad. Linked to LRT Putra train line the mall is easily accessible via train, bus and taxis.
Some of the other KL malls include Starhill Gallery, Sungei Wang Plaza, Lot 10 and Berjaya Times Square. In the Greater KL region lies One Utama Shopping Mall, Sunway Pyramid, among others.
